PCMS Grant RecipientMrs. Gloria Hood is a Donor’s Choose Grant Recipient
Mrs. Gloria Hood is a recent recipient of a Donor’s Choose Grant. Mrs. G. Hood submitted a grant request to Donor’s Choose.org on January 30th, 2012. Her grant titled “Light a Fire” was written for $500 worth of various colored paper, glue sticks, markers, and post-it-notes. Mrs. G. Hood’s grant was fully funded on 3/25/2012 by one single donor from New York. Mr. Scott Duncan funded Mrs. G. Hood’s grant because he believes strongly in math education.
Mrs. G. Hood uses these materials in her math class to help her students create foldables of various math concepts and standards based on the Outstanding Math Guide, which is aligned to the Georgia Performance Standards. The foldables are a quick way to organize, display and arrange information, making it easier for students to grasp math concepts and master skills. The foldables also immerse students in vocabulary and concepts, providing them with a strong foundation that they can build upon. “Using the math foldables is a great way to engage the students.” (G. Hood).
